Here is your small cookie for the day. Do you know the difference between fun and funny?
Fun: Something or someone enjoyable.
It can be used as an adjective to describe enjoyable activities, objects or people:
The fair had attractions, music and lots of fun activities for the children.
She seems like a fun person to be around.
Or as a noun to describe the general concept of enjoyment:
I had a lot of fun at the party last night.
Have fun tonight!
Funny: Someone or something that makes you laugh.
Cat videos on YouTube are very funny to watch.
He thinks he is funny; he laughs at his own jokes.
The comedian was so funny, I almost pissed myself (sorry for the crudeness, but this is a common expression).
There is also an alternative use for ‘funny’. It is sometimes used informally as a synonym for ‘odd’, ‘weird’ or ‘strange’.
My stomach feels funny today, I must have eaten something bad last night.
Your eyes look funny, are you on drugs?
Something smells funny in the fridge.
